At Canfield Bury Farm, we are committed to preserving the natural beauty of our working farm, overlooking 40 acres of water meadows. Our mission is to provide a peaceful retreat for our guests while promoting sustainable agricultural practices, wildlife conservation and sustainable holidays.

Wildlife Delights
Learn about the 85 bird species that thrive in our farm's ecosystem and watch the rare breed cattle graze the meadows to help create the perfect habitat. As the river is remeandered in 2026 we hope to see some more wetland birds, Chat to Jane and she can tell you where to find different species!
All of the cottages are great for wildlife photographers , Badgers, Foxes, and Deer, , Hares, Rabbits , weasels and stoats are regularly seen on the farm.
Art Classes and Workshops
Get Creative!
Discover our art classes run by Jane who has been an artist for 35 years, Suitable for young and old alike. Beginners are welcome! We paint outdoors whenever we can, but have a beautiful studio if we prefer. Private lessons available.
The studio with double bedroom and bathroom is available to rent out to artists/ holiday makers as a holiday let we offer the convenience of easels and materials on site, there is a small fee for use of some materials/canvases.



Sustainable Living
Holiday cottages to be remembered
We happily provide you with environmentally friendly supplies during your stay. The river and the health of its inhabitants -such as the brown trout- are important to us.
We use eco ingredients to clean before you arrive. We have solar panels and a ground source heat pump.
Even waste water is treated on site by a special unit, leaving the water purified before it enters the reed bed.
We actively recycle.
We can even sell beef , honey and produce from the farm.
The Cattle do a better job of maintatining the ancient water meadows than we could ever do with machinery...feel free to watch them at work while you have your morning coffee!

Canfield Bury Farm offers a unique experience for nature enthusiasts, where guests can immerse themselves in the tranquility of our water meadows,live sustainably, with minimal impact on watercourses and the environment. Reduce food miles by buying seasonal produce from the farm.
Jane and Jonathan recently organised an award winning Bluespaces project which made habitat improvements, improved biodiversity, removed non-native species, provided seating and information boards with 8 neighbouring farms.
Guests can enjoy birdwatching, art classes with Jane, or just the use of art supplies! Canfield Bury is a great place for photographers. Jonathan will be happy to chat about our sustainable agricultural practices and wildlife conservation initiatives. We can show you the natural deflectors and the site of the river re-meandering project to restore the river to its pre-Norman status as a river and wetland.
We can point you in the direction of the walk which was improved with seating and information boards with 8 other farms
Is Canfield Bury Farm dog friendly?
We love dogs! We charge a small fee during your stay for the extra cleaning and we ask that dogs be kept on leads, and the dog waste bin provided is used. if you have more than 3 dogs please let us know. Beef bones are often available as a parting treat. Just ask Jane or Jonathan
